God for us

“What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

Romans 8:31 (KJV)

What does this mean?

Paul is asking a question that answers itself: if God is on our side, who can truly stand against us? This comes at the end of a long passage about God's love and purpose for His people. It is a statement of confidence, not a promise that life will be easy.

What does this teach us?

Our security rests on whose side God is on, not on how strong we feel. Opposition, hardship, and accusation are real, but none of them can overturn God's purpose for us. Confidence like this is meant to steady us, not make us careless.

How can we apply this?

Name the thing that feels stacked against you today, and hold it next to this question: if God is for me, what does that change? It does not remove the problem, but it changes how you face it. Walk into it knowing you are not facing it alone.

Reflection

What would you attempt if you truly believed God was for you in it?

Prayer

Lord, when I feel outnumbered, remind me that You are for me. Give me the courage to stand in that truth today, even when I cannot see how things will turn out. Amen.
