Courage to hope
“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD .”
Psalm 31:24 (KJV)
What does this mean?
David is speaking to everyone who puts their hope in God, not just to himself. He tells them to be strong and steady in heart, because hope in God is not wishful thinking, it rests on the God who has already shown himself faithful. The verse is a word of encouragement from someone who has been in trouble and found God steady.
What does this teach us?
Hope and courage go together. Waiting on God is not sitting still in fear, it is standing steady because you trust the One you are waiting for.
How can we apply this?
If hope feels thin today, borrow someone else's strength for an hour: call a friend who believes, read one psalm out loud, or sit quietly and remember one time God came through. Courage often starts small, with one steady step.
