Healing hearts
“He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”
Psalm 147:3 (KJV)
What does this mean?
This psalm praises God for gathering his scattered people back together after exile, and for tending them like a doctor tends the wounded. It says God heals those whose hearts are broken and bandages their wounds. The verse is a short saying about God's care for the hurting — it pictures him close, gentle, and hands-on, not distant from the pain.
What does this teach us?
God tends broken hearts the way a doctor tends wounds. The verse does not promise that every hurt disappears at once, but it says God himself comes close to the brokenhearted, and his healing is personal and tender.
How can we apply this?
If your heart is broken today, let God tend it instead of hiding it. Tell him plainly where it hurts, let one trusted person sit with you in it, and give the healing time — bandages work slowly, and so does God's healing of a heart.
