Blessing without sorrow
“The blessing of the LORD , it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.”
Proverbs 10:22 (KJV)
What does this mean?
This is a wisdom saying from Proverbs, the kind of short truth meant to be carried through a lifetime. It says that the blessing of the Lord is what truly enriches a life, and that his blessing does not come with trouble riding along behind it. Proverbs speaks in general patterns, not guarantees, it is describing the shape of a blessed life, not promising money to everyone who asks.
What does this teach us?
Real wealth is not measured by what you own. A life blessed by God is rich in the things that last, peace, family, a clear conscience, and it does not carry the hidden costs that worldly gain so often brings.
How can we apply this?
Take stock of what you are chasing: if the pursuit is costing you your peace, your sleep, or your family, it may not be God's blessing at all. Ask God to show you what a truly blessed life looks like for you, and let go of one thing that is only adding sorrow.

Reflection
What are you chasing that might be adding sorrow instead of blessing to your life?
Prayer
Lord, I want the blessing that comes from you and not the kind that costs me my peace. Show me what truly enriches a life, and help me to let go of what only brings trouble. Amen.
