Shining light
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Matthew 5:16 (KJV)
What does this mean?
Jesus tells His followers to let their light shine before others, so that people can see their good works and give glory to God. The light is not meant to draw attention to us — it points past us to the Father. Good works here are the ordinary, visible ways a life reflects God's goodness.
What does this teach us?
Faith should be visible in the way we live — not for attention or applause, but so that our actions reflect God's goodness. A hidden faith helps no one see; a lived faith lets others glimpse who God is. The goal is never our own glory, but His.
How can we apply this?
Do one good thing today that no one will praise you for, and do it well anyway. Let your kindness, honesty, or patience be visible at work or at home — not to show off, but because that is what light does. When someone notices, point them to God, not to yourself.

Reflection
If someone watched your life for a day, what would they see that points to God?
Prayer
Lord, let my life shine in a way that points people to You, not to me. Help me do good quietly and faithfully, and give You the glory. Amen.
