God carries
“And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you: I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you .”
Isaiah 46:4 (KJV)
What does this mean?
Isaiah is speaking God's comfort to Israel, a people worn out by exile and afraid of what lies ahead. God says that he is the one who made his people, and he promises to keep carrying them all the way into old age, to their 'hoar hairs', which is the King James way of saying gray hair. He will carry them and rescue them when they cannot rescue themselves.
What does this teach us?
God's care does not have an age limit. He does not carry you only while you are young and useful; the same God who made you promises to carry you at the end, and his strength does not wear out as yours does.
How can we apply this?
If you are getting older and feeling like a burden, let this verse change the picture: you are not a weight God is tired of, you are a child he is still carrying. Lean on him today instead of pretending you can still do everything alone, and ask for the help you need without shame.

Reflection
What would it change to believe that God is still carrying you now, in this season of life, and not only in the years behind you?
Prayer
Lord, I feel the years in my body and I worry about becoming a burden. Thank you that you made me, that you have carried me all my life, and that you will keep carrying me into old age. Amen.
