God's new work

“Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Isaiah 43:19 (KJV)

What does this mean?

God says He is doing something new — something so fresh that His people may not even recognize it yet. He can make a road through the wilderness and rivers in the desert, places where no path should exist. This was first spoken to Israel in exile, a people who could see no way home.

What does this teach us?

The original message speaks to God's promise of restoration for His people: when life feels barren, difficult circumstances do not limit God's power. He does not only repair the old road — He makes a new one. What looks impossible to us is the very place His new work begins.

How can we apply this?

Look at the place in your life that feels like a wilderness — a broken relationship, a dead end, a dry season — and ask God what new thing He might be doing there. Take one step toward the new thing instead of circling the old one. Stop deciding in advance what God cannot do.

Lord, open my eyes to the new thing You are doing. Give me the faith to walk a road I cannot see yet, trusting that You are making the way. Amen.
