Strength for the weary
“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
Isaiah 40:29 (KJV)
What does this mean?
Isaiah is speaking comfort to a people worn out by exile, tired, far from home, and wondering if God has forgotten them. He says God gives power to the weary and strength to those who have none left. The verse does not say God keeps his people from ever growing tired; it says that when they have nothing left, he is the one who supplies what they lack.
What does this teach us?
Weariness is not failure. When your strength runs out, that is exactly where God's strength begins, he gives power to the faint, not to those who have it all together.
How can we apply this?
If you are running on empty today, stop pretending you are fine and admit it, to God and to one other person. Rest without guilt, ask for help without shame, and let God be the one who supplies the strength you do not have.
