New creation
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
2 Corinthians 5:17 (KJV)
What does this mean?
Anyone who belongs to Christ is a new creation — the old life has passed away, and a new life has begun. This is not self-improvement; it is a new identity given by God. The past does not disappear from memory, but it no longer defines who you are.
What does this teach us?
Your past does not have to define your identity. Through Christ, a person can experience spiritual renewal and begin living differently — not by trying harder, but by living from who they now are. The old labels, the old failures, the old life: they have passed, and something new has genuinely begun.
How can we apply this?
Stop introducing yourself to God by your worst chapter. Today, make one decision as the person you are in Christ, not the person you used to be. If an old habit or old shame speaks up, answer it with this truth: that life has passed away, and a new one has begun.
