Thanksgiving
“O give thanks unto the LORD ; for he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.”
1 Chronicles 16:34 (KJV)
What does this mean?
This is a call to give thanks to the Lord because He is good and His mercy lasts forever. It comes from a song of thanksgiving sung when the ark of God was brought to Jerusalem, a moment of great joy for Israel. Gratitude here is not a feeling — it is something we are told to do.
What does this teach us?
Thanksgiving is rooted in who God is, not in how good our circumstances look. His goodness and His lasting mercy are the reasons to give thanks, in good seasons and hard ones. A thankful heart is built by practice, not by waiting for perfect conditions.
How can we apply this?
Start today by naming three things God has done for you, out loud or on paper. Say thank you to someone who has shown you kindness this week. When a complaint rises in your mind, answer it with one thing you are grateful for.

What would change in your day if gratitude came before complaint?
Prayer
Lord, You are good, and Your mercy never runs out. Teach me to give thanks in every season, not just the easy ones, and to see Your hand in the small gifts of today. Amen.
